Rimac Automobili is a Croatian company founded in 2009, specialized in manufacturing high – performance electric vehicles and developing and manufacturing high –  tech systems for the automotive industry. At the core, Rimac Automobili is a technology company, a true engineering company with about 50% of a 250-people team devoted to engineering and design. The main business now is to supply solutions to other manufacturers, not only in the automotive industry, and to become a full electrification partner for the global OEMs. Rimac Automobili is highly vertically integrated – since all vehicle, powertrain and electronics systems are produced in-house, enabling a high degree of freedom and flexibility. A fast and flexible team develops Rimac technologies as rapidly as possible. They strive to make the development process less bureaucratic and standardized, due to beliefs that this holds back the development of the car industry and prevents a swift implementation of new technology.

Rimac Concept_One

Rimac Concept_One was born of the idea that an electric powertrain can make a sportscar not only faster but also more adjustable, agile and fun. Rimac Automobili was founded to push the limits of technology and electric powertrains – the Concept_One combines all the know-how, technology and experience that the company has created since its founding.

The Concept_One is powered by four extremely powerful permanent magnet electric motors, one for each wheel, located in the center of both axles. The architecture is radically different compared to traditional combustion engines so a completely new vehicle platform had to be develops to use all the advantages that such a layout brings. In order to reduce the weight and make it possible to package such a powerful powertrain system into the chassis, all powertrain systems were developed alongside within the same team to enable a high degree of integration between the components. The result is a perfect weight distribution and extremely low center of gravity.

Distributing a total of 900 KW /1224 HP and 1600 Nm of torque, the Rimac All Wheel Torque Vectoring system precisely calculates the optimum torque for each wheel.  R-AWTV provides unseen flexibility and grip by controlling each motor individually one hundred times per second. This enables the Concept_One to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in just 2,5 seconds, and, to 200 km/h in 6 seconds, and to 300 km/h in 14 seconds. The R-AWTV functions as a traction control, stability control and electric ABS system that also commands the 4-wheel regenerative braking of up to 400 kW that works together with the carbon-ceramic braking system.

The Concept_One’s battery pack is designed to deliver 1000 kW or 1 MW of power during acceleration and to absorb 400 kW during braking.

Each of the 8450 battery cells is individually controlles through the in-house developes Rimac Battery Management System, which ensures optimal conditions for a long battery life and long-term performance.

The Concept_One will be produced in the total of eight units.

Rimac Concept_S

The Concept_S is built to utilize the maximum potential of the Rimac All Wheel Torque Vectoring System (R-AWTV). Compared to the Concept_One, it has more power and torque, less weight, and an aggressive aerodynamic package. The aerodynamic elements enhance downforce by 34% (up to 650 kg of load) which press the chassis to the ground. Combined with high-performance tires, higher levels of grip are enabled with opening a wide spectrum of extreme setups for the Rimac All Wheel Torque Vectoring System_S (R-AWTV_S). With 1384 hp and 1800 Nm of torque, the Concept_S raises the bar of dynamic performance.

Rimac C_Two

The C_Two is one of the fastest, most exciting, and most technologically-advanced hypercars ever built. It demonstrates the full range of capabilities of Rimac technologies – the car and all of its major components are designed, engineered and manufactured in-house.

The Rimac C_Two is a pure electric GT. Configurable, personal and extremely powerful, representing what is possible when true innovation and passion is allowed free rein. Building on the knowledge gleaned from the brilliantly powerful Concept_One, the all-new C_Two combines the very best materials and bespoke technology to produce something both revolutionary and eminently useable, with performance and character that elevates the genre.

Designed, engineered and produced in-house it is made entirely from scratch with all-new, groundbreaking technologies – the Rimac C_Two features a full carbonfibre monocoque with bonded carbon roof, integrated battery pack and powertrain. An innovative battery pack in technology and layout delivers 120 kWh energy and 1.4MW of power with exceptional thermal management. With a top speed of 258 mph (412 km/h) and a zero to 60mph time of sub 2 seconds, the C_Two makes devastating use of the instant-torque available to an electric vehicle and the traction made possible by the unique drivetrain and bespoke tyres. More than that, the C_Two maintains its eye-widening acceleration throughout a full-throttle cycle, achieving 186 mph (300 km/h) from rest in just 11.8 seconds. Next-generation R-AWTV (Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring) controls four electric motors, one per each wheel and is available (and necessary!)  to harness 1,914 hp (1,408 kW) of power and 2,300 Nm of torque – two and a half times the torque output of a contemporary hypercar.

As part of the suite of electronics that comes with advanced autonomous capability, the Driving Coach configuration in the C_Two is capable of overlaying selected race tracks in real-time, offering clear and precise audio, visual and direct guidance on racing lines, braking/acceleration points and steering inputs. A near-gaming experience, with real-world excitement. However, the C_Two is, at its heart, always a driver’s car, capable of engaging and exciting anyone, from novice to experienced racer. It is amazingly user-friendly, incredibly effective and filled with unique character.

The Rimac C_Two is limited to 150 units, priced at 2M EUR and available through Rimac Official Partners Network. Extensive development and testing programme is in progress. With prototypes in production, the C_Two will soon take its final shape, and in 2021 bring its performance to the streets around the world.

+ Heritage

It all started as a garage project with Mate Rimac and a handful of people converting a combustion engine car into a fully electric to finally prove its dominance breaking 5 FiA and Guinness World Records for the fastest accelerating all-electric car. Mate Rimac wanted to prove that electric propulsion system can be used to power the new generation of sportscars and make them better, faster and more exciting. He has been told many times that this is impossible to do in Croatia, or at all. Rimac Automobili was founded with the vision to create the sportscar of the 21st century. Soon it was clear that they first had to invent various technologies to make this possible and that those technologies could do much more.

+ Country of origin

A major challenge was to build the team in a country that never had a car industry and has only a few high-technology companies. That meant the Rimac Automobili team had to go through a lot of trial-and-error iterations and learn from their own mistakes. This process bonded the team and created a family.
